Tune in "Erin in the Afternoon" with Deney Delfosse Wednesday September 16th.
She will be asking some of the candidates for Council on the spot questions pertinent to our community!
Good representation starts with listening.
Residents should be able to understand what their Council is doing, ask questions, raise concerns and know that their experiences are being considered before decisions are made. When people feel unheard or cannot easily access information, trust in municipal government suffers.
Erin is changing quickly. Long-time residents, new families, rural residents, businesses, community organizations, volunteers and neighbourhoods across the Town may experience that growth very differently. As major decisions are made about development, infrastructure, roads, public safety and the future of our community, meaningful public participation becomes increasingly important.
Communication also needs to work both ways. Council has a responsibility not only to provide information, but to create accessible opportunities for residents to ask questions, understand decisions and bring forward concerns.
- I will be an accessible and responsive Councillor who listens before making decisions and makes community engagement part of the decision-making process, not something that happens after the fact.
- I will advocate for clearer communication between Council and residents, better opportunities for public questions and participation, and greater transparency around major projects and Council decisions.
- I will support partnerships with residents, local businesses, schools, community organizations and volunteers because some of Erin's greatest resources are the people who already live, work and contribute here.
Most importantly, I will represent the entire Town with fairness, respect and integrity. Whether someone has lived in Erin for generations or has just made this community their home, they deserve to know that their voice matters and that their Councillor is willing to listen, respond and bring their concerns to the Council table.
Representation should not end when the election does. My commitment is to keep the conversation going for the entire term.
